“As an Indigenous woman my strength lies in my connections to my family, community, territory and the culture and practices of the Kwakwaka’wakw people. I possess the ability to walk and see from my traditional lens in a modern world knowing that reconciliation in action requires a way forward that builds upon the living knowledge. My knowledge and commitment to the healing of Indigenous people is my priority and purpose both personally and professionally. I demonstrate and promote kindness and consideration when sharing knowledge and in partnerships with non-Indigenous allies as a reflection of the teachings that have existed since the long ago”
Services to Meet Your Needs
Flexibility
Most training and information sessions are designed to allow for adjustment to meet the needs of the participants. Determinants such as participant age, cultural group, collective and individual demographics are important considerations that require service flexibility.
Collaboration
All services include time to collaborate with your team, supervisors or management to ensure the services reflect your needs. A follow up meeting is included in all program delivery and professional development services to provide additional support as needed. Ravenchild Consulting has a professional network of individuals that can be partnered with to provide supplementary services or serve as co-facilitators
Accessibility
To ensure that costs are not a barrier for those requiring services as the sharing of knowledge is a core value of the Kwakwaka’wakw culture. Please schedule a consultation meeting to explore rate reductions for non-profit organizations or departments operating with minimal funding. Assistance with funding sources can be provided.
Signature Sessions
Comprehensive expertise serves as the foundation to specialize in the creation of custom programs reflective of the needs of the client and the Indigenous people that access services. Consulting services are comprehensive and efficient regardless of length of service.

The Indigenous Cultural Iceberg training was developed as a tool to explore the individual and collective impacts of colonization and trauma. The training explores examples of how the Indigenous Cultural Iceberg graphic can be used by front-line workers in practice and client assessment and reporting. For organizations that serve Indigenous people, the knowledge and understanding is an important part of cultural sensitivity, program development, and strategic planning.

Two Canoes-Reconciliation in Action is a concept to share knowledge about why Indigenous people and non-Indigenous allies must remain on the journey together, each with their own strengths and gifts and support one another towards common goals. Terena shares this concept throughout her consulting and training but has also provided training sessions focussed on implementing the knowledge and how it will impact organizations and frontline staff.
Terena completed her Bachelor of Social Work with NVIT. During that time she was also the President of the NVIT Student Society and did an amazing job uniting the two campuses. I was so impressed with Terena as a student, that I recruited her to become a member of our Board of Governors. Terena is a strong, amazing Indigenous woman. Terena’s personal ethics and integrity are exemplary. KEN TOURAND-PRESIDENT NICOLA VALLEY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Terena’s pursuit to share and receive knowledge has been inspiring to bear witness to. She graciously shared her knowledge with me as an allied clinician, which has been integral to my growth both as a clinician and as a person. She further created a safe space for me to ask questions and show my vulnerability throughout my learning. Terena was able to see where I had strengths and where I needed support and paddled with me, giving me gifts along the way. Not only does Terena have profound cultural knowledge, the way that she shares it is accessible, comprehensible, and generous. She is as eager to gain knowledge as she is to share it. Her two canoes concept demonstrates this perfectly.jessica harrington-ma/rcc

Ravenchild Consulting is more than just a business. Through Terena’s visionary leadership, Ravenchild Consulting grounds best practices in organizational development through cultural ways of being. As such, Ravenchild is transforming the institutions and systems in which we work and operate. At the centre of this work is Terena’s passion and experience in building culturally safe environments through her humble acknowledge of the Client-as-expert. This is best highlighted through her work with individuals and teams using tools such as her Cultural Iceberg. Terena attended my workplace to walk through her Cultural Iceberg with staff supporting care plans for Indigenous youth in care and/or custody. Terena’s expertise, patience, guidance and applicability made this a workshop that was praised by staff as they were able to walk away with a new lens for approaching their work and a framework to help guide them.alexandra fehr-policy development lead
Terena has been a friend, colleague and mentor across both Canada and Australia since 2013. Terena inspired my work as an ally with Aboriginal communities in both countries – her depth of knowledge of her cultural heritage, her calm yet inspiring approach to the complexities of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal service providers is incredibly valuable – Terena is a rare individual of truly genuine leadership and continues to inform my social work and counselling practice in rural and remote Central AustraliaBenjamin Kearney | Senior Specialist Mental Health
